A resilient facade

Monad Terrace is a luxury waterfront apartment building on Miami’s Biscayne Bay. The site is threatened by sea-level rise and high winds, but has beautiful views; this project addresses all 3 aspects. The building is raised above the street level around a man-made lagoon, making water the experiential centerpiece of the project. The building also utilizes a wire mesh system to host a living facade of vines that grow up alongside the building balconies and outdoor corridors. The building is therefore a host for nature and gains shading and cooling by doing so. Finally, the project’s geometry is angled to maximize the beautiful views of Biscayne Bay from the building.
